When you have been watching Hollywood movies for as long as I have you tend to get bored. I recently fell into Italian movies. The camera work on some of them is on a level I have never seen before in black and white film.

Director: Michelangelo Antonioni (1961)

La notte is well shot - if you care about technical details of filming and camera positioning you will have a field day with this one. Its a movie that says more in the facial expressions than it does in the dialogue. There is lots to see and hear which is why I like it. Some commentors say it is slow but I dont mind so (well not as slow as Lawrence of Arabia). I am impressed it was release in 1961. It makes the other black and white movies that I have watched in the pass seem like childs play. Watch it, even though it is sub titled the story should be easy to follow.
